Casa Alvito

A couple leaving Lisbon asked for a house that would stay cool without machines, on a field of cork oaks and one old olive tree.

We kept the olive tree and built around it: a courtyard for the morning, a deep timber roof for the afternoon, thick lime walls that hold the night cool until noon.
